Youth Safari (Part 3 of 3)

Ngorongoro Crater

On Sunday morning, three Uswaa pastors skipped worship services to accompany 34 youth into the Ngorongoro crater, but let me tell you God was worshipped.

In America going on vacation is sort of a given, we expect that at least once a hear we will take some time away from our daily routine and do or see something different. There is not much of a concept of this here in Tanzania. These youth get “holiday” from their schooling, but they go home and work during those days. Most of them don’t really ever leave the village that they grew up in. They work, they go to school, and they go to church.

So just imagine these 34 youth getting the opportunity to travel, to be served delicious meals, and to see the animals (for which their country is known) for the very first time.

We asked Pastor Mmanga if he thought the youth enjoyed themselves. He response was simple and emphatic: “They more than enjoyed it.”

They did. They were plastered to the windows of the bus watching for the different animals. Some had note paper and pens and they were recording all of the animals they saw. They listened intently to the guide giving information about the animals and the crater. When we stopped for lunch, they sat outside and enjoyed the excitement of these big birds swooping in to try to steal some of their food.

It was more than joy.

It was more than amazing.

It was more than inspiring.

It was more.

It was Sunday Morning Worship.

Shout to the Lord, all the earth; break out in praise and sing for joy!
Let the sea and everything in it shout his praise!  Let the earth and all living things join in.  Let the rivers clap their hands in glee!  let the hills sing out their songs of joy before the Lord.
Psalm 98: 4,7-8 NLT
